Say right, point left

While showing directions, why many of them, point towards left and say right or vice-versa.

    Cos 90% of the times, when you ask directions it is usually to a person coming towards you (Read opposite).
    Hence at times he gets confused on directions as his left is your right & vice -versa!!

    That was so simple and right !! I never got it ..sheesh !!
    From next time, I will turn the person to my direction and see it working :)
