To continue the discussion on the difference between short stories and ankana, I wanted to say that when a writer grows up in his writings all these differenciations of disciplines of writing become neglegible. Tejaswi's and Kaykini's writings belong to this category. Even an article by them would be poetic. For ex. Jugari Cros; it is a novel, but it takes place in 24 hrs and you get the feeling that it is a short story. Karvalo can be called as a novel, a science writing or a philosohical writings.. Tejaswi's writings on Human evolution and wild life are more than non-fiction writings. His translation of world novels (like A long walk, Papillon) are more like short stories rather than novels.

Anyways. Good blog.

Yes. I just completed reading ಬೊಗಸೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಸುರಿಮಳೆ (bogaseyalli surimaLe). It's also much similar to toofaan mail, though not entirely. Well, if you have enjoyed reading toofaan mail and it's style, then I suggest to go ahead and read bogase'lli suri'Le too. This will take you through different moods.

As a coincidenceI met Sri. Jayantha Kaykini yesterday at Rangashankara :)

Thanks for making me aware. Then I was right, as I said already that there was no intent, per se. I did enjoy the style, language. Is Bogaseyalli Surimale also compilation of (ankanas) ?

I have read “TOOFAAN MAIL” and “BOGASEYALLI SURIMALE” of Jayant kaykini. It’s actually mis-quoted above as short stories. Stories are different from ANKANA ( in KANNADA). Hence, the reader may not find any theme in the articles (ankaNa), but I guess it’s a kind of shows/depicts two days of life of a common man in the urban condition. These articles are entirely different from short stories. We just need to understand and enjoy the articles. Just call them articles and not as short stories.
